The Inauguration of President Barack Obama
I was lucky enough to get a press pass to attend the inauguration of Barack Obama in Washington, D.C. Following is a glimpse at my adventure on the cold, crowded and altogether amazing day of January 20, 2009.






























First 5 Minutes as President
These images are from the first five minutes following the swearing in of Barack Obama as the 44th President of the United States.

I arrived at the National Mall at 7 in the morning (after battling a good 3 hours to trying to get from the metro into the area). Since there was little chance I could get up close to the actual ceremony, I focused on the faces that I saw around me on the Mall.

The Democrats put in a bit of effort to drown out the Republicans in patriotism at this year’s inauguration. The amount of flags handed out on the mall was astounding. They were piling up in heaps on the ground. I noticed that people had started wearing flags in all sorts of way and came up with a quick portrait series.
